This song is called Lee Shores. This is an interesting one. The art for the record was created by James Tughan. James had asked for some of my lyrics to use as inspiration, and upon reading them and hearing some demos, he wrote a poem and asked me to set it to music. This was a first for me, but I'm very happy with the result.
To me, this song is largely about the bonds - sometimes tenuous - between people in relationships (friends, family, lovers, exes, etc.) and the role these ties play over time. Whether experiencing isolation or being among a host of people, these threads remain, and we remain connected. Like a vibrating string, they send out wavelengths of sound which will reverberate throughout the rest of our lives. Sometimes obvious, and often otherwise, it is these connections to others which keep us from being driven toward the unnavigable and treacherous lee shores.
Much of this was actually recorded several years ago in a tiny attic bedroom I was in at the time. It took me a long time to get to finishing it. As usual, Glen Watkinson did the drums, Robinson did the bass, and this time Brenden Campbell did the lead electric in the bridge.
